Yoon Sang-min, a magical photographer who expresses photos like pictures. Since I got to know Yoon artist through Facebook, he has been exhibiting together in China and other places.

It feels unfamiliar to photographs that are expressed like paintings, but after studying picturesque photographs for a long period of time, artist Yoon Sang-min published a book called ``Photos from the Future'' in 2016. Debuted as a writer.

I met the artist Yoon Sang-min, who has been working as a full-time photographer since several years ago by changing professions to focus only on photography from an active doctor.

◆What is the difference between Yoon's photo, which is called a magical photo, and what motives for taking picturesque photos and how to take them?

In general, photographs are expressed realistically, but my photographs are expressed like abstract paintings by omitting a lot of realistic expressions. It expresses like a picture using only a camera and does not use a method of expressing like a picture by computer synthesis.

Briefly explaining the method, it induces the light to rotate, refract, and reflect inside the camera while the light reaches the camera image sensor.

The method uses the camera movement to induce a change in a short moment before the light reaches the camera image sensor. At this time, it is not just the camera movement, but when the appropriate shooting conditions are set, the light changes a number of times according to the camera movement. And a picturesque image is formed.

Appropriate shooting conditions for picturesque images change from time to time and depend on various shooting conditions. Anyone who has taken pictures will have experience taking pictures that look like strange abstract paintings that were not intended at least once.

The motive for studying the magical photography method was also from that strange experience. One day, after experiencing that the wrongly taken photo turned into a very nice abstract image, I researched light and shooting conditions for several years and invented a magical photography method.

◆ What is the reaction of the visitors who saw the artist Yoon's photo, and is the reaction of the general audience and the photographers different?

All visitors who enter without knowing that it is a photographic exhibition misunderstand it as a picture unless they explain it as a photograph.

After knowing that it's a picture, it reacts astonishingly. And I am very curious about how to take a picture like this. Not only visitors, but also people who specialize in photography also want to know a lot of interest and how to do it.

Although everyone is surprised, there are many people who observe very closely and shoot the work in detail, doubting whether an image like an abstract painting can be completed with a camera.

To introduce an anecdote, I received a desperate request from a woman who had a young man majoring in photography as her son during her solo exhibition in China to send her son as my student to study in Korea. There are many cases where I have conveyed my desire to learn how to shoot directly or indirectly from various people, regardless of amateur or professional photographers.

◆ If so, are you willing to pass on the magical photography method or reveal it to the world?

It's a difficult problem. It may be released someday, but it cannot be released at this time. This is because this method has not been completed, and research is still underway.

If you compare my early works and my current works, you can see that my works are changing. This is because I continued to research and found a new way to shoot in a new way.

I've been trying countless times and I'm not clearing my mind about finding new ways around the clock. I don't know when I can finally complete the shooting method. While experimenting with changes in numerous conditions and modifying the data, we are adding new shooting methods one by one, but it is difficult to disclose because the data is not systematically organized yet.

◆Please introduce me if there was anything that impressed me while I was working on my work.

This is the story of the days when my work was experimentally filmed before it came out into the world. At about the same time every day, I photographed around the temple in the same place until it was chewing gum.

One day, a patrol car appeared, inspected for concern, checked identity, and asked what he was doing. It is believed that it was because someone reported it because they thought it was suspicious because they were filming in one place for a long time while hovering around the temple without anything special.

I was enthusiastic about taking pictures, and the moment I was suddenly inspected by the police, I had an experience that was very embarrassing.

◆ Do you have different reactions from overseas and domestic to Yoon's work?

I think there are differences in domestic and foreign reactions due to cultural differences. In China and the United States, what they think they need is an open atmosphere that accepts and admits, regardless of the formality, but it feels a little different in Korea.

It is believed that the reason why news about my solo exhibition was heavily aired on Lushan TV News and Weihai TV News during the individual invitation exhibition of the Lushan Museum of Art in China and the individual invitation exhibition of Weihai Museum of Art is because there is an open culture that they want to accept if necessary. .

I think that the preconceived notion that China is a socialist country and that the cultural is also closed is wrong. Since I belonged to the Korea-China Art Association, I have exhibited in China, and there are many scheduled exhibitions in China by the Korea-China Art Association. According to what I have experienced so far, China is more open to art than I thought.

◆Artist Yoon made his debut as an artist by exhibiting in the United States earlier than in Korea. Is there a reason for doing so?

I think the reason why I debuted as a photographer in the US before Korea is also the difference between open culture.

The first time I contacted several places in Korea to introduce picturesque photographs, I couldn't help but have the opportunity to exhibit for free after reviewing my unique photographs despite being a Korean amateur artist who has never had an exhibition at the U.S.'Dark Room Gallery'. Was provided twice.

It was an opportunity for me to experience the open culture of the United States. Despite its short history, I also thought that the driving force behind the development of the United States as the world's most powerful country was an open culture.

“Abstract starts from omitting detailed realistic expressions. Subtracting is another addition, and omission is another creation. The artistic interpretation of the artist Yoon Sang-min that the boundaries are blurred and the appearance becomes unclear from the omitted appearance, but it is created in a different image with a deeper meaning is a cross-section through which he can glimpse the world of his work.

Artist Yoon is working to communicate by bringing out hopes and dreams, as well as hopes and dreams, carved in the depths of the tree rings through the shape of an abstracted tree. This is the reason why artist Yoon Sang-min's actions are attracting attention in the future.

Artist Yoon Sang-min, who has written four books on pictures expressed like pictures, is currently the chairman of the Korea-China Art Association and is also the head of an art group. It was a precious interview where I was learning art from him, not from an artist who was born.
