2022 작가노트

카메라로 그림을 그린 것처럼 보이는 마법의 사진을 내가 시작한 계기는 빈센트 반 고흐 그림처럼 표현되도록 촬영방법을 연구하면서부터 이다. 생동감 넘치는 고흐 그림을 따라하기 위해 나는 카메라 움직임을 이용하여 나무 주위의 빛을 추상화 시켜 힘과 생동감이 있는 그림같은 이미지를 창작한다. 

카메라 움직임은 단순하면서도 반복적으로 표현되는 섬세한 빛의 조각들을 필연적으로 탄생시킨다. 나는 이 빛의 조각들을 모으고 쌓아서 내가 의도한 방향으로 작품의 전체적인 흐름을 이끌어 구체화 시킴으로써 원래 피사체에 없는 새로운 이미지를 창작한다. 

작품속에서 옆으로 강렬하게 스처가는 바람, 휘몰아치는 듯한 강렬한 빛의 흐름, 사선으로 내리치는 힘찬 빛의 역동적인 형상 그리고 땅에서 부터 위로 솟구치는 듯한 빛의 추상적인 표현은 원래 피사체에는 없는 모습이다. 

카메라 움직임을 이용하여 카메라 내부에서 빛의 흐름을 변화시켜 한번의 촬영으로 새로운 이미지를 창작한 것이다. 컴퓨터의 도움을 받아 사진을 그림처럼 표현한 사진과 달리 내가 사용하는 방법은 한번의 촬영 때 필연적으로 발생하는 빛의 흐름이 단절되지 않고 유지된다.

내 작품속에 그림에서 덧칠한 것처럼 표현된 모습 역시 원래 피사체에는 없다. 작품 속 뒷배경의 색상과 빛이 나무 앞으로 나오면서 나무를 감싸는 빛의 흐름으로 바뀌도록 유도해 냄으로써 그림에서 붓으로 덧칠한 것같은 모습으로 바뀌게 된 것이다.

내 작품의 흐름속에는 수많은 작은 섬세한 표현들이 내포 되어있다. 나는 그 작은 섬세한 표현의 끝에 힘을 모아 거대한 힘을 뿜어내는 큰 흐름으로 바뀌도록 작품속에서 빛의 흐름을 유지시킨다.

나는 피사체에는 존재하지 않지만 카메라 움직임으로 빛을 이용하여 새롭게 창조된 여러 형태의 그림같은 이미지를 통해 인생의 희로애락과 인내, 사랑그리고 평화를 추구하는 작업을 한다.

2022 Artist's Note

The reason I started taking pictures of magic that looked as if they were drawn with a camera was when I was researching a shooting method to express like a Vincent van Gogh painting. To imitate a lively Van Gogh painting, I use camera movement to abstract the light around the trees, creating picturesque images with power and vitality.

The camera movement inevitably creates delicate pieces of light that are simple yet repetitive. By collecting and stacking these pieces of light, I lead the overall flow of the work in the direction I intended and make it concrete, creating a new image that was not originally in the filming target.

In the work, the strong wind passing sideways, the intense flow of light, the dynamic shape of the powerful light slashing diagonally, and the abstract expression of the light as if soaring upwards from the ground are not in the original filming target.

It uses camera movement to change the flow of light inside the camera to create a new image with one shot. Unlike photography, in which a photograph is expressed as a painting with the help of a computer, the method I use maintains the flow of light that inevitably occurs during one shot without interruption.

The image that is expressed as if it was painted over in a painting in my work is also not in the original filming target. By inducing the color and light of the background in the work to come out in front of the tree and change into a flow of light that surrounds the tree, it has changed from a painting to the appearance of being painted over with a brush.

Numerous small and delicate expressions are contained in the flow of my work. I keep the flow of light in the work so that it turns into a large flow that radiates enormous power by gathering power at the tip of those small delicate expressions.

I work in pursuit of life's joys and sorrows, patience, love and peace through various forms of picturesque images that do not exist in the subject matter but are newly created by camera movement.
